Lead Roofing heritage work on a Church Roof

We were contact by the specialist builders of this project, who mainly deals with ecclesiastical and heritage works, for us to replace the lead roof on this notable church.

Because of its heritage design the requirement on this roof was for Sandcast lead to be used.  Sandcast lead is the traditional method of creating lead sheets and has been used for thousands of years.

This particular church roof required a high end of leadwork roofing, as it was created in Code 7 Sandcast Lead for the main bays of the roof and Code 8 Sandcast Lead in the parapet box gutters, both of which are exceptionally heavy to work with.

The other challenging aspects about this project was that the roof had been created with a change of pitch within the bays and that it had been laid in a herringbone style.

As always we complied with the heritage and ecclesiastical Lead Codes of Practice that are required on this type of project.
